Hurst Coaching - Questions and Answers

I answer some of the questions put to me by my brother when I pitched this idea to him.
Hurst Coaching - Questions and Answers

Hello!

As you can probably imagine, I’ve been pitching Hurst Coaching around to my friends and family. This has lead to some interesting questions, not least from my little brother. Some of his questions I could answer relatively easily, some were more of a challenge.

So I promised Mark a one-pager answering all his questions. As I worked on it, though, I realised it would make a good page for the site as an FAQ.

I’d love to hear from readers if they have any questions based on the below. Am I being clear or too vague? Do you know what you’d get if you contacted me? And what services I provide?

If you enjoy this email and following the journey I’m on, please consider forwarding it on to someone who might be interested. Even just one person once a week would really help my get the word out about Hurst Coaching. And if you've only just received this and would like find out more, subscribe below!

FAQs

How do I define a workplace coach?

I think I made it up. It’s a variation on a theme. Professional coach / career coach / business coach. I thought about limiting myself to one of those descriptions, but I don’t think that sums up everything I can help with. So I settled on workplace coach. I help people who are working.

Who is my target audience?

My audience is broken down into two main groups, although both are made up of professionals who feel that their working life isn’t great, and want to do something about it.Individuals: There’s a host of reasons people might want to contact me. Perhaps they’re unsure about next career steps, or don’t know how to face a situation at work. Maybe they need help building confidence at work, or on a specific part of work (public speaking etc). I don’t have all the answers to all these problems, but I’m confident that my experience as a coach means I’ll be able to guide people to find solutions, no matter what area of work they’re in.Business owners: Again, this is broad, but is likely to be more consultative. Perhaps a small business owner wants to tap into my experience in setting and changing working practices and cultures. Or maybe they’re approaching a tipping point and want a safe space to explore potential next steps for their business. Being a leader in any business or situation can be a lonely pursuit, but I can help.

What is my offer? What am I selling?

I have four key products, with an increasing price point - including a free offer I’m using as a marketing tool:Free newsletter: Subscribers to my email will get valuable insight into building a new business, and gain some ideas that they can apply themselves. This also builds a relationship with my subscriber base, and gives me a way to advertise who I am and what I do.Paid for content (TBC): Once newsletter reaches a critical mass (probably 500ish subscribers), I plan to offer an additional paid tier allowing people to email me to ask questions directly. This will be a low cost option for people who want my help but can’t afford the coaching offer. Individual coaching: I offer an 8 week course with 6 meetings. I will be able to make the offer bespoke to each client, depending on why they’ve reached out to me. I will help them reach their goals using established coaching techniques, drawing on my own experience across a number of business areas. Pricing for this is available here.Bespoke coaching / consultation: Aimed more at businesses, this is my highest tier of help. This is likely to consist of the creation of a package geared towards the issues the customer is having. For example, this may include mentorship, running workshops, written advice or planning/delivering corporate days. If an individual wants to take up this offer, I will work with them to go above and beyond the offer from point 3.

How am I marketing Hurst Coaching?

The dream is that eventually my mailing list will grow to a size that it will provide leads on a regular basis. The newletters will be attractive to subscribers as they reflect on the world of work, suggest ideas to try out in workplace and (hopefully inspirational!) updates on how Hurst Coaching is growing. To begin with, however, I’m going to invest in some targeted web-based advertising, and local advertising/sponsorship in Colchester. I’m hoping that this starts the ball rolling, and can eventually be scaled back.I’m not a fan of social media, and the current audiences of most platforms does not overlap with mine. However, I’ll be starting a Linkedin page, as well as the Youtube channel linked heavily to the blog.
